Description
This upload contains the 40Ar/39Ar geochronology age determination of sample RR1310-D14-08 from Rurutu Hotspot in Tuvalu (Rurutu Hotspot, Tuvalu) and was calculated using the ArArCALC freeware. The preferred age of 48.54 ± 0.07 Ma is the age plateau and is interpreted as the eruption age of the sample. Sample has a low temperature excess Ar pattern with an intercept of 346.6 +/- 0.58 (% 1sigma). When corrected the age is close but slightly lower than the corresponding plagioclase age. The age is slightly suspect due to the technique, see discussion. The age determination was carried out on a sample of basalt (groundmass) in an incremental heating experiment and using the bulk laser heating extraction method. The analyses were run on a ARGUS-VI mass spectrometer and the ages were calculated relative to flux monitor FCT-NM (2A39-14) (sanidine) with an age of 28.201 ± 0.082 Ma. Instructions This ERDA upload contains four separate 40Ar/39Ar age calculation files generated with ArArCALC. Both the XLS and PDF files are for easy viewing in Microsoft Excel or Adobe Acrobat Reader, whereas the AGE file is readable by the ArArCALC software only and the XML file is generated for the GEOCHRON online database project.
