Description
This is an integrated lesson plan for middle school students centered around a trip across the Pacific Ocean from Hawaii to San Diego. Science students will graph the voyage using depth and distance data. Language arts students have been given prompts to create various writing samples involving the transit of the Revelle. Math students have a variety of levels in which to participate including simple mean, median, mode calculations to trigonometric ratios. Social studies students can view the posted daily longitude/latitude data and follow it on a map. Student work samples are available for viewing. |

Instructions This lesson is intended to follow an ERESE lesson plan called Ocean Floor Mapping. A link to a detailed powerpoint has been included and is to be used by teachers to prepare students for this lesson. |
