Description
Matai Seamount is located at 6¿ 41.1' S, 173¿ 25.3' W and is part of the Tokelau Seamounts on the Pacific Plate. It is 3495 m high with the top at -1900 m and the ocean bottom at -5395 m. The seamount has a volume of 1824 km3 and is fairly round with slightly irregular edges. Five predominant rifts are seen radiating out from a central summit. A saddle to the northwest connects Matai to an unnamed seamount. Dredge AVON2-D48 was taken on the west trending rift and dredge AVON2-D49 was taken on the northwest trending rift.
