The Mystery of the Pangea Puzzle

Web Challenge

 

Objective: To observe several different models of Pangea and record

                  accurate observations and “I wonder” statements focusing

                  the observations on the scale, keys, shape changes of

                  continents, continents paths of movement, pattern of colors

                  with in the different models.

 

  1. Click on the Pangea model one animation. Scroll down until you find the continental drift animation. Observe the animation and read text. Record your observations and “I wonder” statements in your lab notebook.
  2. Click on the Pangea model two, while it’s loading read the explanation below it specifically about what the colors represent. To run the animation drag the mouse across the image. Record observations and questions in lab notebook.

     3. Click on Pangea model three animation. Follow the same directions

         as above. Write observations and questions in the lab notebook.

     4. Click on Pangea model four Read page and scroll down. Follow the

    directions and try to solve the Pangea puzzle. Write observations

    and questions in lab notebook.

5. The last two Pangea models are paper models go to the classroom

    and obtain puzzles from teacher and put them together to form

    Pangea. Then move them to their present day positions. For each

    puzzle write your observations and questions in your lab

    notebook.
