In the early morning hours we dredged the seamount (Na Kaa) to the North of Nui, picking a target on previously collected bathymetry on our way to Mau Mau Seamount. This resulted in a large dredge haul with plenty of basalts. Subsequently, we mapped around the island of Nui. As expected, the coral cap on this atoll made for few dredging targets. We finally found one on the South side of the entire structure that Nui sits on top of and recovered basalts as well as volcaniclastic sediments. We then proceeded to a pair of seamounts south of Nui (Laupapa and Fialua).
