Exposure-experiment put-in in Warren Cave. We found a small crack that had a nice sandy floor, lots of dripping water, and air of about 15°C emanating from the crack, and, above all in darkness. This makes this location a perfect position with conditions that one might expect from a location well inside a volcano. Of course, the experiments need to be put in without introducing any microbes from the surface. Everything put into the crack was auto claved and handled with rubber gloves. Shortly after finishing the job Hotel Sierra received a VHF radio call from Lower Erebus Hut asking when we are done and when we will come home for dinner. All that through 30 meters of ice!
