The area around McMurdo has a large number of giant sponges (Anoxycalyx joubini), a large number of them growing along a sunken gangplank used for anchoring ships in the late nineteen-fifties. Also in the picture included are Gellius tenella (branching) and Dendrilla antarctica (yellow).
