Lower Erebus Hut on a calm day. The community hut (red) is half-buried in snow, with its windows facing the summit of Mt Erebus. The entry vestibule (right) also serves as the huts freezer. The wind sock on top shows the incoming helicopter traffic how strong the wind is and from where it is blowing. The garage in the background serves as a staging ground for experiments, repairs of equipment and it contains the outhouse of the camp. It can also serve as the bedroom for the ones who feel uncomfortable staying in tents.
