EarthRef.org Digital Archive (ERDA) -- Age Data for the Reykjanes Ridge

Description
The attached spreadsheet provides data taken from sampling locations across the Reykjanes Ridge in the Atlantic Ocean, just southwest of Iceland. The latitude and longitude coordinates represent sites that span 200 km on each side of the ridge. A rough calculation for the seafloor spreading rate can be made as well using the samples ages and their respective distances from the ridge. The Age Data map for the Seafloor Along the Reykjanes Ridge from this data set depicts the region and sampling sites for the data.

Instructions
How does the data support the theory of plate tectonics? Using the distance from ridge and age information, calculate average plate velocity. Make a graph from the data set and determining the relationship between age and distance from spreading center.
