These are the instructions for installing ArArCALC on your Windows computer: 
* start WinZip for Windows 95/98/NT/2000 and open "ArArCALC212b.zip"
* in WinZip extract the ArArCALC files and directories to the hard disk of your own choice e.g. C:\ or D:\ but set the following options:
1. check "Replace Existing Files"
2. check "Use Folder Names"
... note that you always have to make a copy/backup of your old "ArArCALC.log" file which contains all your project names and irradiation constants. In this way you do not have to enter all this info over and over again when installing a newer version of ArArCALC on top of your current installation. Also note that ArArCALC now can be installed as a subdirectory ...
* start Excel 97-2000 for Windows 95/98/NT/2000
* install the ArArCALC add-in via ... Tools # Add-Ins:
1. choose browse
2. open "ArArCALC.xla" from the ... \ArArCALC\Program\ ... directory
* start ArArCALC via ... Tools # ArArCALC

... ArArCALC is now up and running. But to be able to calculate your first data reduction you first have to set some parameters in ArArCALC ...
* goto the preferences dialog box via ... Options # Preferences:
1. set your password in the "Password" tab
2. set pathname for your data files in the "Files" tab
3. set your lab info in the "Lab" tab
4. configure your input filter in the "Input Filter" tab
... the last point is most critical for the installation of ArArCALC. If the input filter is not properly configured, error messages indicate that the current input filter is not usable for the opened raw data file ...
* goto the irradiations and projects dialog box via ... Options # Irradiations and Projects:
1. add your Projects
2. add your Irradiations
* now you are ready to reduce your first raw datafile in ArArCALC via ... Program # Open # Raw Intensities
