In the morning we retrieved the largest dredge load yet, a dredge that was about 2/3 full. Again the dredge consisted of basalt with large feldspar phenocrysts, with easily visible twinning. As before the rocks also contain olivine and clinopyroxene phenocrysts. Another good day for age dating. Most of the rest of the day was spent surveying around the island of Nukulaelae in search of a dredge site. This proved to be a difficult task, but eventually we lowered one on the West side.
