Today we transited to our Dredge 28 location, Suhail Escarpment. This escarpment is named after a star in the constellation Vela. Vela is the sail of the larger ancient constellation Argo Navis, or the ship of Jason and the Argonauts. The next escarpment after this one, Tseenkee, also comes from a star in Vela. After these many weeks of being at sea, it’s rather fitting that these last few dredges have a seafaring connection.
