1.1  Key Information

1.1.1  About ERDA

The EarthRef Digital Archive database contains user-contributed data and digital data objects associated with Earth Sciences. Data objects may be part of non-published Earth Sciences projects ranging from data tables to diagrams to reports to geological maps to videos.

You can reach the entry point to ERDA searches and the Upload Wizard by clicking on the Databases link in the EarthRef navigation or by visiting http://earthref.org/databases/ERDA.

1.1.2  Development of ERDA

The EarthRef Digital Archive contains any type of digital data object associated with the Earth Sciences. Data objects may be part of non-published Earth Sciences projects ranging from data tables to diagrams to reports to geological maps to videos.

Data objects may be submitted by users in various formats using the ERDA contribution process.

1.1.3  Hardware and Software Requirements

Browsers / Screen Resolution

This site has been designed to work best with Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5.0 and greater, and Netscape 6 and greater. To use many of the functions on this site, your browser should have JavaScript and cookies enabled. A screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768 is also recommended.

Plug-Ins

EarthRef Digital Archive files come in various formats, for which you may need a browser plug-in or other software. In order to view PDF (Portable Document Format) files accessible from this site, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, available free for download from Adobe. Scalable Vector Graphics also require a plug-in, available for download from Adobe.

Downloadable files from the database are available as compressed .tar.gz files. This will require the use of WinZip, Aladdin StuffIt Expander, or similar freeware for Windows users, or Aladdin StuffIt Expander for Macintosh users.
