Deploying the Solid State Electrochemistry Probe
The AIS is an in situ electrochemistry analyzer (ISEA) that is able to detect concentrations of elements such as iron, manganese and oxygen. Here it is being deplyed at a vent site in Pele's Pit. Note the shimmering hot water above the vent and to the left of the probe.
