A look into a small vent
The camera is looking straight down into a small vent. Shimmering hot water blurs the left side of the image. The hydrothermal vent water has no oxygen in it because of chemical reactions with hot rock underground. The gray inside the vent indicates where hot water is venting. The rusty orange color surrounding the vent indicates that the rock has been in contact with oxygen in sea water.
