The remains of two OSMO samplers These OSMO sampler holders are all what remain after the recovery of the instruments which have measured ocean water compositions close to the microbial mats for almost an entire year. Fe-oxidation is pretty evident on these pieces of equipment. The actual OSMO samplers now reside in one of the freezers in a bath of Loihi's deep-sea water.
