	Announcing the MagIC Science and Database Workshop, September 19-21, 2011
Dear Colleagues, we like invite you to attend the 2011 MagIC Science and Database Workshop at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California at San Diego, September 19-21, 2011. On Monday and Tuesday, September 19-20, the workshop will feature three invited keynotes, six shorter science talks, and a poster session covering a wide range of topics in paleomagnetism, geomagnetism and rock magnetism. An introduction to the workings of the Magnetics Information Consortium (MagIC) database will be given along with tutorials on uploading your own data and reviewing contribution to the database. On Wednesday September 21 there will be a Special Hands-on MagIC Data Upload Workshop. This workshop is especially targeted to those who want to walk through the process of uploading and archiving data and learn more details of how the process works (e.g. senior graduate students, post-docs, lab managers, although others with interest are also welcome). Space is limited because of the tutorial nature and we can only accommodate up to 15-20 people for this part of the workshop. It requires separate registration. Participants are expected to have attended Days 1 and 2 of the 2011 MagIC Science and Database Workshop.
