Animation of geomagnetic field intensity variation from 44 ka to 38 ka through the Laschamp excursion (at 41 ka. The LSMOD.2 model (see Korte et al. 2019, Frontiers in Earth Science, 7, 86. https://doi.org/10.3389/feart.2019.00086 provides a global reconstruction of the field which becomes very weak in the middle of the excursion.
