Description
This table shows the Chemical and isotopic composition of seawater, of the calculated hydrothermal fluids at various temperatures, and of the 350¿C East Pacific Rise (21¿N) Hot Spring fluids. Although concentration at various sites may differ, this table gives scientist a general idea of the chemical composition of hydrothermal fluids. |
|
Instructions 1. Pay extra attention to the concentration of SO4 and H2S in correlation with the temperature. 2. Try to explain or give a reason why the pH would decrease as the temperature goes up? 3. What chemical mechanism is the driving force behind the trend in decreasing pH? |
