Description
Beru Guyot is located at 1¿ 18.4' S, 175¿ 58.2' E and is part of the Gilberts Ridge region on the Pacific Plate. It is 3487 m high with the top at -1000 m and ocean bottom at -4487 m. The guyot has a volume of 3930 km3 and is elongated with an azimuth of approximately 127¿. It has slightly irregular edges and a relatively flat top surface. A saddle to the east connects the guyot to Nikunau Seamount, which effects the slope. Volcanism appears to be present on the saddle and the northeast oriented rift goes into this saddle. There is a rift feature west of the seamount that is approximately 5 nautical miles in width, runs approximately east west and bends above Kantu Seamount to the northwest. Dredge AVON2-D16 was taken off of the northwest rift.
