Description
Tuba Seamount is located at 2¿ 25.4' S, 175¿ 24.5' E and is part of the Gilberts Ridge region on the Pacific Plate. It is 3883 m high with a very shallow summit at -400 m and the ocean bottom at -4283 m. The seamount has a volume of 1463 km3 and is fairly round with very little elongation and only slightly irregular edges. Four predominant rifts are observed that meet at the seamount summit. Tuba is located in a cluster of volcanoes sharing a common platform. Dredge AVON2-D19 was taken from the west end of the northwest oriented rift.
