Description
Pao Pao Seamount is located at 7¿ 11.7' S, 173¿ 38.2' W and is part of the Tokelau Seamounts on the Pacific Plate. It is 4776 m high with the top at -300 m and the ocean bottom at -5076 m. The seamount has a volume of 3790 km3 and is slightly elongated with an azimuth of approximately 150¿. The edges are relatively smooth and five rifts are observed radiating out from the summit. Minor rifts extend off north of rift 1. The seamount is part of a cluster trending 333¿ and it is connected by saddles to Ula Seamount to the north and an unnamed seamount to the west. Dredge AVON-D52 was taken on the northwestern rift.
