| Description | Forde Seamount (SONNE 167 Volcano 37) is located at 35¿ 23' S, 170¿ 24.7' W and is part of the Louisville Ridge on the Pacific Plate. The seamount is 4265 m high with the top at -925 m and the ocean bottom at -5190 m. It is intermediate in size with a volume of 5435 km3 and a basal diameter of 70 by 25 km. A break in the slope of the guyot occurs at approximately -1200m. The guyot is slightly elongated in a northwest-southeast direction with an azimuth of approximately 127¿ . The edges of the seamount are relatively smooth. It has a dominant northern volcanic center linked by a 7 km ridge to a smaller southern volcanic center. |
