Description
This upload contains the 40Ar/39Ar geochronology age determination of sample RR1310-D07-22B (RR1310-D07-22B) from Rurutu Hotspot in Tuvalu (Rurutu Hotspot, Tuvalu) and was calculated using the ArArCALC freeware. The preferred age of 54.97 ¿ 0.05 Ma is the age plateau and is interpreted as the eruption age of the sample. This is the second attempt at analyzing this sample with the low temperature steps included. The plateau formed the same shape as the other attempt and produced an age within error of the previous analyses, strengthing the age determination. The intercept is non-atmospheric as it is so radiogenic (>99.8%) that a atmospheric intercept is unacheivable. The age determination was carried out on a sample of basalt (groundmass) in an incremental heating experiment and using the bulk laser heating extraction method. The analyses were run on a ARGUS-VI mass spectrometer and the ages were calculated relative to flux monitor FCT-NM (2A43-14) (sanidine) with an age of 28.201 ¿ 0.082 Ma.
