Description
This upload contains the 40Ar/39Ar geochronology age determination of sample RR1310-D27-64 from Samoa in Pacific Ocean (Western Samoan Seamounts) and was calculated using the ArArCALC freeware. The preferred age of 45.73 ± 0.03 Ma is the age plateau and is interpreted as the eruption age of the sample. An odd plateau for a plagioclase, it appears that it is partly degassed by a non-atmospheric fluid until high temperature steps. The eventualy (albiet short) plateau is in agreement with amphibole from the same sample. The age determination was carried out on a sample of basalt (plagioclase) in an incremental heating experiment and using the bulk laser heating extraction method. The analyses were run on a ARGUS-VI mass spectrometer and the ages were calculated relative to flux monitor FCT-NM (6A10-15) (sanidine) with an age of 28.201 ± 0.082 Ma. This sample was collected by Anthony Koppers (akoppers@coas.oregonstate.edu). Sample Description: 1x leach + HF. Sample Treatment: Use this link to download the ArArCALC 40Ar/39Ar age calculation files (in the XLS, XML, PDF, AGE and META formats) and any other digital object related to the RR1310 sample from the EarthRef.org Digital Archive.. Location Description: East Niulakita, Pacific Plate, Pacific Ocean.
