Description
This upload contains the 40Ar/39Ar geochronology age determination of sample RR1310-D11-10 from Rurutu Hotspot in Tuvalu (Rurutu Hotspot, Tuvalu) and was calculated using the ArArCALC freeware. The preferred age of 53.01 ± 0.68 Ma is the age plateau and is interpreted as the eruption age of the sample. A small batch of hornblende that did not degass until higher temperatures. Produced a reliable plateau but contained a non-atmospheric intercept. The large errors on the plateau and intercept do overlap slightly and thus the age is deemed reliable albite suspect. The age determination was carried out on a sample of basalt (hornblende) in an incremental heating experiment and using the bulk laser heating extraction method. The analyses were run on a ARGUS-VI mass spectrometer and the ages were calculated relative to flux monitor FCT-NM (2A19-14) (sanidine) with an age of 28.201 ± 0.082 Ma.
