Description
This upload contains the 40Ar/39Ar geochronology age determination of sample RR1310-D07-22B from Rurutu Hotspot in Tuvalu (Rurutu Hotspot, Tuvalu) and was calculated using the ArArCALC freeware. The preferred age of 53.67 ± 0.08 Ma is the age plateau and is interpreted as the eruption age of the sample. A long and clean plateau with an atmospheric intercept. As is often the case with this region the plagioclase is ~1Ma younger than the corresponding groundmass. See Konrad et al., 2017 for discussion. The age determination was carried out on a sample of basalt (plagioclase) in an incremental heating experiment and using the bulk laser heating extraction method. The analyses were run on a ARGUS-VI mass spectrometer and the ages were calculated relative to flux monitor FCT-NM (2A23-14) (sanidine) with an age of 28.201 ± 0.082 Ma.
