Description
This upload contains the 40Ar/39Ar geochronology age determination of sample RR1310-D07-22B (RR1310-D07-22B) from Rurutu Hotspot in Tuvalu (Rurutu Hotspot, Tuvalu) and was calculated using the ArArCALC freeware. The preferred age of 54.66 ± 0.03 Ma is the age plateau and is interpreted as the eruption age of the sample. There was a miscommunication, which led to the belief that this sample was preheted a higher temperature then it was and consequently some of the low temperature steps were lost. However, this samples still produced a long and reliable plateau. The age determination was carried out on a sample of basalt (groundmass) in an incremental heating experiment and using the bulk laser heating extraction method. The analyses were run on a ARGUS-VI mass spectrometer and the ages were calculated relative to flux monitor FCT-NM (2A43-14) (sanidine) with an age of 28.201 ± 0.082 Ma. This sample was collected by Anthony Koppers (akoppers@coas.oregonstate.edu). Sample Description: 1x leach.
