Description
This upload contains the 40Ar/39Ar geochronology age determination of sample 44A-ARGON-3 from Floreana Island in Galapagos and was calculated using the ArArCALC freeware. The preferred age of 0.9253 ± 0.0049 Ma is the age plateau and is interpreted as the eruption age of the sample. Reliable plateua with high and low temp recoil effects. The age determination was carried out on a sample of basalt (groundmass) in an incremental heating experiment and using the bulk laser heating extraction method. The analyses were run on a ARGUS-VI mass spectrometer and the ages were calculated relative to flux monitor FCT-NM (sanidine) with an age of 28.201 ± 0.082 Ma. This sample was collected by Andrea Balbas (Andrea_Balbas@yahoo.com). Sample Description: 1x leaching. Sample Treatment: A lava flow from Floreana Island, Galapagos. Location Description: Floreana Island, Galapagos. Site GA79 (Rochette et al. 1997; Kent et al. 2010) aka G44 (Cox and Dalrymple 1966). .
