Description
This upload contains the 40Ar/39Ar geochronology age determination of sample HO-PUA-03 from Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia and was calculated using the ArArCALC freeware. The preferred age of 1.7130 ± 0.0017 Ma is the age plateau and is interpreted as the eruption age of the sample. The plateau began with some erradic recoil patterns. Then the age spectrum became long and consistant followed by some high temperature recoil (likely mixed with some excess Ar). The degassing pattern was slightly erradic relative to other similar samples and produced some steps with alot of Ar followed by steps with low Ar released. The age determination was carried out on a sample of basalt (groundmass) in an incremental heating experiment and using the in situ laser heating extraction method. The analyses were run on a ARGUS-VI mass spectrometer and the ages were calculated relative to flux monitor FCT-NM (R98) (4C19-14) (sanidine) with an age of 28.201 ± 0.082 Ma. This sample was collected by Kevin Konrad (Konradke@oregonstate.edu). Sample Description: 1x leach. Sample Treatment: Individual handsample from the Marquesas Islands. . Location Description: Puama'u Bay, Hiva Oa Island, Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia. Lat/Long/Elevation is approximate. .
