Description
This upload contains the 40Ar/39Ar geochronology age determination of sample HO-AT-03 from Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia and was calculated using the ArArCALC freeware. The preferred age of 2.2776 ± 0.0076 Ma is the age plateau and is interpreted as the eruption age of the sample. The plateau is relatively long but contains higher uncertainity than observed in other Marquesas samples. The groundmass contained very high concentrations of atmospheric Ar at each temperature step. The resulting plateau is still reliable. The age determination was carried out on a sample of basalt (groundmass) in an incremental heating experiment and using the in situ laser heating extraction method. The analyses were run on a ARGUS-VI mass spectrometer and the ages were calculated relative to flux monitor FCT-NM (6A4-15) (sanidine) with an age of 28.201 ± 0.082 Ma.
