Description
This is a phototgraph of W. Jason Morgan. Morgan proposed the theory of mantle plumes. According to Morgan, mantle plumes are narrow columns of magma that can rise from deep within the earth to reach the surface and erupt as volcanoes. Morgan's mantle plumes are the mechanism that feed hotspots.
