Description
After a seamount moves from the source of volcanism it begins to slowly subside. Seamounts area features located on tectonic plates, so as tectonic plates move, seamounts move along with the plates. As a tectonic plate moves away from a divergent plate boundary, it begins to slowly subside as the crust cools.
