Nakamura, Y., Oberst, J., Clifford, S.M. and Bills, B.G. (1986). Comments on the letter ‘‘on the influx of small comets into the Earth’s upper atmosphere, II. Interpretation’’. Geophysical Research Letters 13: doi: 10.1029/GL013i011p01184. issn: 0094-8276.

The interpretation of the 'atmospheric holes' in terms of an influx of comet-like objects is difficult to reconcile with the fact that the lunar seismic network, set up during the Apollo project, did not detect the postulated influx of such objects.
