Corresponding to measurements made in the Arctic, assumptions have been made on the atmospheric concentrations of reactive halogenated hydrocarbons in Antarctica. These concentrations have been used in a one-dimensional photochemical model calculation carried out for Antarctic conditions. When the photolysis rates of these compounds are increased, which is likely to be expected due to an acceleration by heterogeneous photolysis, total ozone columns are calculated well in agreement with the recently observed low Antarctic ozone values. ¿American Geophysical Union 1987
