Radar images of Venus with best resolution near 1.3 km have been formed using the Goldstone Deep Space Stations as a ground-based synthetic aperture radar system. Twelve days of observations were successful during the 1986 inferior conjunction, and we have selected three observations for initial processing to demonstrate the new capability. The three images show several remarkable surface features including regions of high Fresnel reflectivity in the plains region. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1988 |
