We present observations of severe particle motion distortion due to Love-Rayleigh wave coupling (e.g., between 0L and 1R) using a display of 3D particle motion trajectory for records obtained at GDSN station HON. Though effects of lateral heterogeneity are yet to be examined carefully, phase velocity dispersion curves, calculated for a multilayered oceanic model with azimuthal anisotropy, predict this type of coupling in the period range between 20 and 30 s depending on the propagation direction of surface waves. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1989
