The analysis of data on the geomagnetic intensity variation over a few last millenniums derived from archaeomagnetic studies of ceramic fragments from Spanish monuments (the Cendres Cave multilayered archaeological monument near Valencia, and the Malaga monuments) and data on the field intensity in Spain in the 19th and 20th centuries showed that the spectrum of the intensity variations in this region is nearly the same as in other regions (from Bulgaria to Japan) studied previously. Examination of the geomagnetic intensity variation with a period of about one and a half thousand years (approximated by a 1600-year oscillation) in the area (4degrees-136degrees E, 36degrees-54degrees N) showed that the direction and rate of the drift of this variation did not change over the last 8 kyr. The 1600-year variation drifts westward at a rate of 0.2degrees per year.
