Seventy samples from six unaltered lava flows from Iceland allow study of magnetic properties of deuteric hematite. Our data indicate that the directions of the titanohematite and titanomagnetite components are identical for all samples for which both components could be determined. This result verifies the assumption that the direction of hematite due to deuteric oxidation should parallel that of titanomagnetite because magnetization occurs at the same time. The unblocking temperatures of titanohematite are beteeen 610¿--650 ¿C and are consistent with its composition (0.028 |
