Gardner-Taggart, J.M. and Barminski, R.F. (1991). Short period wave generation in Moss Landing Harbor caused by offshore landslides induced by the Loma Prieta Earthquake. Geophysical Research Letters 18: doi: 10.1029/91GL01183. issn: 0094-8276.

Short period waves were observed in the Moss Landing Harbor approximately 2 minutes after the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Offshore submarine landslides in the region of wave generation was noted by scuba divers and recorded by side scanning sonographs, fathometer records and ROV video footage taken in the area after the quake. These waves are believed to have been generated by offshore submarine landslides along the canyon walls of the Monterey Canyon directly offshore of the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories ¿American Geophysical Union 1991
