We have performed a labortory investigation of the infrared emissions arising from the interaction of a fast beam of O/O+ with N2 over the velocity range of 8 to 12 km/s. Emissions from the ground state vibration-rotational bands of both NO and NO+ are observed with apparent excitation cross sections exceeding 10-17 cm2. The relationship of these observations to recent measurements of the infrared shuttle glow will be discussed. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1992 |
