Fast driven reconnection in a three dimensional axially bounded flux tube is studied in numerical simulations and in a simple analytic model. Numerical examples are given in which the reconnection time is a very weak function of resistivity &eegr;. The data is consistent with a reconnection time scaling as ‖log &eegr;‖. A simple analytic model agrees with many features of the computational data. ¿American Geophysical Union 1993 |
