NH4+ to SO4-- ratio of aerosols and snows are investigated in Greenland. Data suggest that the atmospheric NH4+ and SO4-- signals are well preserved in snow and that previous discrepancies sometimes observed between the composition of the air and that of the snow were probably due to NH4+ artifacts. This study leads to the conclusion that NH3 is not able to neutralize the acidity of the high latitude atmosphere in particular in the Southern Hemisphere. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1993 |
