Hernandez, G. (1995). Zonal wavenumber determination of the semi-diurnal oscillation in the midlatitude upper atmosphere from single-station optical measurements. Geophysical Research Letters 22: doi: 10.1029/95GL01999. issn: 0094-8276.

Single station optical observations of the motions of the midlatitude upper atmosphere at Fritz Peak (39.88¿ N, 105.5¿ W), using the [OI> 17924K (557.7 nm) emission line as a tracer, are employed to experimentally determine the zonal wavenumber character and direction of travel of the observed oscillations of 12-hr periodicity. The results show that this 12-hr oscillation is westward traveling and of zonal wavenumber character two, and they describe a solar migrating semidiurnal tide. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1995
