It is shown that large-amplitude high-frequency electrostatic pump waves can parametrically excite magnetic field aligned electron-cyclotron waves as well as magnetosonic and/or Alfv¿n waves propagating at an arbitrary angle to the external magnetic field lines. The results lead to a new proposal for the origin of the nonthermal electromagnetic waves in space plasmas. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1995 |
