We investigate the effect of nonlinearity of the voltage current plasma characteristic on the damping rate of shear and compressional Alfv¿n waves in current-carrying plasmas. It is shown that the shear Alfv¿n wave experiences much stronger turbulent damping than compressional wave due to its effect on the level of ion acoustic turbulence excited by an external current. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1995 |
