Akinari, N. (1999). An assessment of the role of ionospheric conductivity variations in determining the auroral electrojet characteristics. Journal of Geophysical Research 104: doi: 10.1029/1999JA900348. issn: 0148-0227.

A simple circuit model is used to examine how the conductivity variation of the ionosphere can affect the overall properties of circuits in the magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling system. It is demonstrated that there exists a theoretical threshold in a current-conductivity relation that distinguishes conductivity-dominant electrojets from electric field-dominant ones. ¿ 1999 American Geophysical Union
