A simple circuit model is used to examine how the conductivity variation of the ionosphere can affect the overall properties of circuits in the magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling system. It is demonstrated that there exists a theoretical threshold in a current-conductivity relation that distinguishes conductivity-dominant electrojets from electric field-dominant ones. ¿ 1999 American Geophysical Union |
