Hsieh, K.C., Lin, Y.C. and Sullivan, J.D. (1975). A simple method to extract information on anisotropy of particle fluxes from spin-modulated counting rates of cosmic ray telescopes. Journal of Geophysical Research 80: doi: 10.1029/JA080i016p02305. issn: 0148-0227.

A simple method to extract information on anisotropy of particle fluxes from data collected by cosmic ray telescopes on spinning spacecraft but wihtout sectored accumulators is presented. Application of this method to specific satellite data demonstrates that it requires no prior assumption on the form of angular distribution of the fluxes; furthermore, self-consistency ensures the validity of the results thus obtained. The examples show perfect agreement with the corresponding magnetic field directions.
