The flux distribution of photoelectrons in the atmosphere of Venus is computed by solving a form of the Boltzmann equation. From the fluxes the heating rate and temperature of the electron gas and the excitation rates of the CO(a3&Pgr;), CO2 +(A2&Pgr;u), and CO2 +(B2&Sgr;u +) states are calculated. Uncertainties in the results are discussed. |
