Global enhancements and depressions in ULF magnetic activity in the ~20- to 60-mHz frequency range (magnetic pulsations) at longitudes separated by ~5 hours in local time (geomagnetic latitudes ~45¿) are apparently controlled by the radial direction of the interplanetary magnetic field on those days when the field is confined to the ecliptic plane. |
